Favicon generator (ICO and PNG)
Create a favicon from an image, one or two letters, or an emoji. Download favicon.ico, PNG sizes, apple-touch-icon and site.webmanifest as one ZIP, and copy the HTML tags.
Choose an image to create the icons.
Emoji look different depending on the emoji font of the OS and browser (Windows and Apple designs differ, for example). The PNG files use the emoji font of the device you create them on.

Files
The paths assume you put the files from the ZIP in the root folder of your site. favicon.ico contains three sizes: 16, 32 and 48 px.
Files you select are processed in your browser on this device. They are never uploaded to or stored on our server. For how analytics are handled, see the Privacy Policy.
How to use
- Under "Create from", choose Image, Text or Emoji.
- For an image, choose a file and decide how non-square images are handled (fit with padding or crop the center). For text, enter one or two characters and pick the weight and color. For emoji, enter one emoji.
- Adjust the background color, shape (square, rounded or circle) and corner radius, or make the background transparent. The preview updates as you change settings.
- Check the icons on light and dark backgrounds and in the browser tab mockup, then select "Download all (ZIP)". You can also download each file on its own.
- Put the files from the ZIP in the root folder of your site and paste the HTML into <head>.
Supported formats and limits
- Images can be JPEG, PNG or WebP (not SVG or HEIC).
- Emoji are drawn with the emoji font of the device and browser you use, so the same emoji looks different on Windows and Apple devices.
- Text uses the system font of your device, so letter shapes can differ slightly between devices. Font choice is not available.
- The output is favicon.ico (16, 32, 48 px), PNG files (16, 32, 48, 180, 192, 512 px) and site.webmanifest. SVG favicons and maskable icons are not created.
- At 16 px, fine details and thin lines may become hard to see.
How it works
Each size is drawn on its own canvas and saved as PNG. Text and emoji are drawn directly at every size so small icons stay sharp. Images are first fitted into a 512 px square and then reduced in halving steps.
favicon.ico stores the 16, 32 and 48 px PNG images inside the ICO container, which Windows Vista and later and all current major browsers support.
site.webmanifest lists the 192 and 512 px icons and uses the background color (white when transparent) as theme_color and background_color.
FAQ
Are my image or text uploaded?
No. Drawing and file creation happen in your browser. Nothing is sent or stored.
Which tags do I put in my HTML?
Copy the HTML shown by the tool and paste it inside <head>. The paths assume the files are in the root folder of your site; change them if you use another folder.
Is favicon.ico alone enough?
Most browsers request /favicon.ico automatically, but phones use apple-touch-icon and the manifest for home screen icons, so it is best to upload all files.
I changed the icon but the tab still shows the old one.
Browsers cache favicons aggressively. Try a hard reload, clearing the cache, or another browser.
