Files you select are processed in your browser on this device. They are never uploaded to or stored on our server. For how analytics are handled, see the Privacy Policy.

How to use

  1. Write Markdown in the editor on the left (or top). The preview on the right (or below) updates as you type.
  2. Use the toolbar to insert bold, italic, headings, links, bulleted and numbered lists, quotes and code. Select text first to format it (Ctrl / ⌘ + B, I and K also work).
  3. Use "Open .md file" to load a file from your device.
  4. Save with "Download .md" or "Download .html", or copy with "Copy Markdown" and "Copy HTML".

Supported formats and limits

  • Your text is not saved. It is gone when you close or reload the page, so use "Download .md" if you want to keep it.
  • For safety, HTML tags written in the Markdown are shown as plain text and never run.
  • Links and images may use http, https, mailto, tel, relative paths and data:image for PNG, JPEG, GIF and WebP only. Links such as javascript:, vbscript: and file: are shown as text.
  • The preview loads only images embedded as data:image and shows the alt text for others (the downloaded HTML shows them). Links in the preview open in a new tab.
  • Files must be UTF-8 text of up to 2 MB. The main CommonMark and GFM syntax (including tables and strikethrough) is supported; task-list checkboxes and math are not.

How it works

Markdown is converted with markdown-it (CommonMark compliant) with HTML input disabled. Every link URL is checked for unsafe schemes, also after removing control characters and percent-encoding.

The preview is shown in a sandboxed iframe that cannot run scripts, and its document has a Content Security Policy that blocks scripts and remote loads.

Downloaded HTML is produced by the same converter and saved as a standalone file with minimal styling and a script-blocking Content Security Policy.

FAQ

Is my text sent to a server?

No. Conversion and preview run in your browser, and nothing is sent or stored.

Can I use HTML inside the Markdown?

For safety, HTML tags are shown as text instead of being rendered. Use Markdown syntax for formatting.

Can I export to PDF?

Not directly. Open the downloaded .html file in your browser and choose "Save as PDF" in the print dialog.
