Files you select are processed in your browser on this device. They are never uploaded to or stored on our server. For how analytics are handled, see the Privacy Policy.

How to use

  1. Choose the format to convert to (JPG, PNG or WebP).
  2. Choose the image with "Choose an image". It is converted right away.
  3. Check the new size and press "Save image".

Supported formats and limits

  • Input formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP, one image at a time. Only the first frame of an animated GIF is converted. HEIC is not supported.
  • JPG cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white or black. Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparency.
  • Saving as WebP is available only when the browser supports it (Safari on iPhone and iPad does not, for example).
  • Images larger than about 16 megapixels are scaled down to that limit during conversion.
  • Saved images generally do not include Exif data such as the date taken or location.

How it works

The image is drawn once in your browser and saved again in the chosen format. For JPG and WebP, a lower quality value gives a smaller file. PNG keeps full quality, so its files tend to be larger.

FAQ

Does converting PNG to JPG reduce quality?

JPG compression loses a little detail. At quality 90 or higher the difference is hard to see. Sharp images such as text or illustrations look cleaner as PNG.

What is WebP?

An image format developed by Google that usually makes smaller files than JPG or PNG. Some older software and services cannot open it, so follow any format requirement you have been given.

Is my image sent to a server?

No. Conversion happens entirely in the browser on your device. Nothing is sent to our server.
